Clean tech focus pulls Point Carbon into Boston office

By Mass High Tech Staff

Point Carbon, a Norwegian energy consultancy, has announced the opening of a regional office in Boston.

The company’s new office, its second in North America, will be led by Boston College alum Mark Sarro, director of advisory services for North America. Sarro has focused on areas such as electricity price forecasting, power market asset and contract valuation, and cost of capital estimation for regulated utilities and merchant companies.

The move was spurred by the Bay State’s active clean energy cluster, including the region’s private equity community and the state’s participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), according to the company.

Point Carbon provides analysis and consulting services for governments and companies in the global power, gas and carbon markets. The company is headquartered in Oslo, with its North American headquarters in Washington D.C.

Point Carbon boasts more than 15,000 clients worldwide, including major energy companies, financial institutions and governments, according to the company.
