By Mass High Tech Staff
Chip maker Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials recently held the opening of its new $60 million immersion lithography facility, which is located in the company’s Advanced Technology Center in Marlborough.
According to Rohm and Haas officials, the new facility will support research and development of advanced 193 nanometer lithography materials used to make semiconductor devices.
The new facility contains the same equipment Rohm and Haas’ customers are using, according to Jim Fahey, president of microelectronic technologies, Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials. That will help the Marlborough-based company develop new materials based on customer requests.
Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials is a unit of Philadelphia-based Rohm and Haas Co. (NYSE: ROH), which reported a profit of $661 million on revenue of $8.9 billion for 2007.
